Volunteer: Come out and lend a hand!

It depends on what is going on that day so be sure to check in with Silvia or Wendy but here are a few things that we always need help with:

• Cuddles!
• Picking up poop
• Washing food bowls
• Cleaning/scrubbing kennel floors and benches
• Cleaning and replenishing water buckets
• Bathing dogs 
• Raking up leaves

Wear whatever you are comfortable in, and you are okay with getting dirty! Depending on what activity you are helping with at the shelter we recommend closed toed shoes that you are also okay with getting wet (shoes like crocs are great options). The dogs like to jump up to say hi, so sometimes shorts can mean getting some love scratches. Shorts that come to your knees are great for protecting your skin. Sunscreen is recommended and a hat is also great for keeping the sun out of your eyes.

Bring water and stay hydrated! The rest highly depends on what activities you are helping with at the shelter and how long you plan to be there. Bring a snack if you plan to be there for a while, you can also bring the animals some treats as well.

Come on in through the gates. Always be mindful of making sure the dogs don’t escape through any of the gates. If you are volunteering on a Sunday, check in with Silvia to see where your help is needed. If you are there any other day of the week, check in with Wendy. She will happily point you in the direction of where you can help!
